Summary/Abstract: In the period after the Paris Peace (1856), the Russian public has demonstrated its attitude toward the events that followed (the unification of Italy, Germany, The Civil War in the United States, the uprising in Poland in 1863). Analyzing these events the public amounted assumptions about Russia‘s participation in these events. For each of these events were administered the assessment and analysis. The reunification of Germany was not unanimously accepted in Russia. Already from the beginning of the 80s the press begins to mention the possibility of an attack of Germany on Russia. Getting close to France was positively accepted by the contemporary Russian press. Particular attention is drawn to the Russo-British antagonism in Central Asia. The situation in Austria-Hungary and the Balkans were also the subject of attention of Russian newspapers. Special topics in the Russian public and the press of that period was the Russian foreign policy, as the public opinion was formed around not just one but more concepts (conservative, liberal and revolutionary). Regarding foreign policy the issue of public allywas raised, should it be Germany or France. The public opinion associated Germany with some commercial centers, and representing their interests, so they were more pro-German oriented. The public opinion have occasionally appeared texts that openly expressed antagonism toward Germany which caused the reaction of her government. By the end of the century, this hostility was growing. The general conclusion would be that the Russian public created an atmosphere of the imminent war.
