Folklore and Folklore Forms Through the View of the Carriers

Summary/Abstract: The surveys made in Sofia and Vama according to a prepared in advance questionnaire revealed the attitude of the contemporary carriers of folklore to what they consider to be folklore and not folklore, how they perceive folklore and folk art. Almost all are unanimous that it is the same, that the song cannot be the same in the different generations, that there is a lot in common between the songs of the Balkan peoples, but they are still different. In respect to concert forms like fairs and festivals, two extremes have been notices towards the folklore ensembles and the folk albums: unreserved adoption and absolute rejection.
