Summary/Abstract: The wedding celebrations feature traditional rituals that have been passed down from generation to generation, their form and symbolism unchanged for decades. On the other hand, we have a situation in which these celebrations are formed through the elimination of old or addition of new ceremonies. This involves decisions taken by the spouses-to-be, who discuss them with their parents, family, friends and people of importance in the local community. The ultimate shape adopted by the celebrations depends on socialization, family and local traditions, travel, opportunities to observe other models, and media communication.
