Summary/Abstract: In the time of turbulent changes, scientists and managers are searching for new HRM models. In this context, diversity of human resources seems to be a very attractive concept because it may give additional value to an organization. This paper aims to present the main theories and concepts of human resource diversity, especially in reference to new organizational needs as well as to show the direction for future research. There are also presented basic approaches towards diversity, and expectations which are related to them. Despite the substantial number of studies in the area, there is a gap between theory and practice. There is a need for new models, which would explain which HRM practices of diversity management and which their configurations, are the most profitable for organizations.
