Summary/Abstract: The aim of this article is to explore and understand preferences of individual employees on work values as well as the way of rewarding. This issue seems to be very important as the organizations experience high diversity of today’s workforce. This is why, understanding how the pay preferences are shaped will allow employers to select the most effective and desirable incentive instruments and thus to create high commitment of employees. Data were collected among alumni and students of the Faculty of Management at AGH University of Science and Technology. The work values and pay preferences of respondents were analyzed in relation to their basic socio-demographic characteristics. The results showed that for the surveyed specialists the most crucial value at work were self- efficacy and possessing high professional competence. Therefore, when considering motivating such employees it is recommended to use incentive systems based on the evaluation of their own work results as well as provide proper feedback. Lack of appropriate tools and procedures may result in lower employee satisfaction and thus lower commitment to the professional goals.
