Education policy of the local governments in Poland.

Summary/Abstract: The aim of this article is to overview the development of the local governments’ long-term education strategies. In Poland local authorities are responsible for the management of the schools, therefore all initiatives aimed at improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the educational system depend heavily on their ability to finance and implement the required changes. The author examines the goals and tasks of the Polish local governments in the field of education policy and identify major challenges. He also reflects on the role of local educational partnership.
