Summary/Abstract: This article situates the work of Grzegorz Wróblewski, a Polish-born poet and painter who settled in Denmark in the mid-1980s, in the two-fold context of urban and Scandinavian studies. The first builds on German sociology of space to explore literature that has a particular interest in cities and the conditions of urban life; the second is related to the reception of the Danish literary canon in Poland, which is conditioned by filters that can seem alienating to Danish readers. According to Pessel, Wróblewski’s poetic prose does not fulfil common expectations. Rather than presenting topographies of Copenhagen,Wróblewski depicts his struggle with his own fluctuating identity.
