Summary/Abstract: About one thousand people in Poland live with a transplanted heart. In 2010, 79 heart transplants were made. This kind of operation often influences patient’s economic situation which usually gets worse. Material status has a great impact on people’s health that is why we should focus on this part of their lives. The main goal of the study is to analyze economic situation of the people who have had their hearts transplanted. The detailed aim is to evaluate the proportion of working people and those ones who were superannuated. Information was collected in the Silesian Centre of Heart Diseases in Zabrze. People who took part in the poll are the patients of the Transplantation Dispensary who filled in the authorial polls consisting of 17 questions.
