Summary/Abstract: In this article I present claims exploring contextual characteristics that drive strategic renewal. Theorizing the role in strategic renewal of what I call organizational context, I argue that firm size and age as distinct elements of such a context catalyze strategic renewal in a direct or curvilinear manner. Towards closer understanding of organizational context strategic renewal relations, I also explain how joint size and age may have curvilinear effects, when it triggers a strategic renewal choice. By providing insight into the nature of strategic renewal and implication of firm size and age, my framework and analysis synthesize extant literature, offer conceptual clarity, and focus on future research.
