Financial information in an information society

Summary/Abstract: Purpose - the purpose of this article is the consideration of the meaning of financial information in an information society, social-economics, in which information is the dominant resource. Design/Methodology/approach - the completion of this article required the application of the descriptive, comparative and analysis methods. Findings - an analysis of the term information in education was conducted as well as the symptomatic traits for the information society. From the conducted analysis it follows that the modern approach of accounting standards to useful financial information does not coincide with the possibilities of processing information in an information society. Originality/value - potential paths of change in the approach to the presentation of financial information and increasing its usefulness in an information society were indicated in the conclusion process
