Summary/Abstract: The future involvement of the NATO member states’ air forces should consider the potential threats to Alliance security, which involves carrying out processes for designing those organizational structures necessary to develop operational capabilities able to provide appropriate and effective responses at every level of conflict. It is possible that in the future allied air forces meet unpredictable adversaries with which to confront in long-standing and low intensity conflicts, but also having to perform a variety of roles for peace keeping and peace enforcement, dealing with humanitarian crises, etc.The purpose of this paper is to identify and establish the organizational-structural parameters and attributes set that air forces of NATO member states should hold, in order to meet the challenges of the current and foreshadowed security environment, finally aiming to present some conclusions and recommendations to facilitate the integration and application of concepts in design and development processes for obtaining structures configured to meet the overall objectives (performance of the functions, roles and missions). Therefore, the air force organizational and structural transformation is analyzed in the broader context of the NATO transformation, with a focus on the future constructions processes, adjusted accordingly to allow the execution of air operations in a joint and combined manner within the Alliance.
