The new life of the term ‘sexism’ in Russian society and contemporary Russian discourses

Summary/Abstract: The article investigates the processes and the results of the sociopolitical determinologization of the term sexism, its activization in contemporary Russian discourse, changing and extension of its conceptual expressive component, its paradigmatic, syntagmatic and epidigmatic ties as well as the productivity of the word sexism in various types of phraseological and paremiological transformations. The perception and interpretation of the word sexism in Russian society and the linguistic consciousness of native Russian speakers are considered here as a reflection of the current picture of the world of native Russian speakers. The analyses are based on material extracted from printed and electronic mass media, blog posts and Internet-forums.
