Summary/Abstract: This article examines how the French family policy has been driven by familialism in at least two of its objectives: reconciling work and family life and easing parenting responsibilities. We explore how these objectives reflect both the social order and the gender order produced by the French family policy, and maintained despite the family and societal transformations. Initially, the consideration will extend to work-life balance, which was primarily intended for mothers. Secondly, the analysis of parenting support shows a normative management of social roles.
