Summary/Abstract: This paper deals with the current situation of the Jewish population with regard to the question of identity. It focuses on the post-1945 period with particular reference to various members of the Jewish community in Košice. It is an interesting area, as it was influenced by Hungarian culture and used to be home to a large Jewish community. Moreover, in the period under discussion, the Košice community exemplifies the general development that was taking place throughout Czechoslovakia. (transl. S. Hattersley)
