Summary/Abstract: In the last ten years, historians whose focus of research is on searching and documenting sources on the history of the Jews in the Czech lands have been joined by an increasing number of people with an interest in genealogical studies. Their searches for ancestors, however, are often limited by the fact that until the first half of the 18th century there are no sources of a central nature for records on the Jewish population of Bohemia and Moravia that are comparable, for example, with parish registers, lists of dependent subjects, cadastres and such like. It is therefore necessary to point to less frequently used sources of a different provenance, in this case documents dating from 1664–1755 that relate to the pastoral activities of two important Church institutions – the Prague Archbishopric and the Jesuit College of St. Clement in Prague’s Old Town. As will be demonstrated in this paper, these documents provide information both for Jewish genealogists who may find hitherto unknown branches of certain families, and for Christian genealogists who are seeking to trace the Jewish origin of their families.
