Summary/Abstract: Shallcross surveys how the Polish literary canon is taught as a foreign literature at universities in North America. She outlines and explains the fundamental difference of that canon as compared to the understanding and functioning of local national canons, and proposes to conceptualize teaching Polish literature abroad in terms of a transatlantic canon.
