History of the Polish language between 1989 and 2014 — research mainstreams

Summary/Abstract: The article presents the main achievements of Polish linguistics within the scope of diachronic linguistic research between 1989 and 2014. The author discusses briefly the most important studies, including both synthetic treatises and more detailed papers. Paying attention to the continuity of the structural method used in exploring the linguistic system and Polish dialects, the author also points out the new research areas connected with language communication, with functional diversity of the Polish language and with linguistics-oriented genre studies.
