The Polish Solutions Concerning the Obligatory Bank Reserves

Summary/Abstract: The article talks about the regulations concerning the obligatory bank reserves in the Polish banking system and describes them. It characterizes the main documents on which the obligatory bank reserves work in Poland. These documents are: the Bill of the Polish National Bank (NBP) passed in 1997, resolution No. 64/2001 and 24/2003 passed by the Board of the Polish National Bank (NBP) concerning the rules explaining how to deal with the obligatory bank reserves, and resolution No. 14/2003 passed by Board of the Monetary Policy (RPP) concerning the interest of the obligatory bank reserves. The articles discusses the interest of the obligatory bank reserves in the European Union too. It also talks about the causes of decreasing the obligatory bank reserves and their influence on economy. At the and, the article presents the list with the changes that should be done in ader to adjust the parameters of the obligatory bank reserves to the standards requined by the European Union.
