Summary/Abstract: Functions and assigments of a parish priest which have been described in the context of every priest’s duties result directly from the priestly mission as an „ apostle of Christ”. They first, of all, set his social part. These functions undertaken by the parish-priest are always performed in name of catholic Church, and should meet ,at the same time, expectations of parishioners, as representatives of the local Church. A candidate for a parish-priest must be well prepared for these assignments , because lack of suitable qualification in this matter will be an obstacle in carring out assigned duties properly. Hence the post of a parish priest cannot be treated as a reward for rendered services ; there should not be also supported by a wrong conviction , that every priest is suitable for this position. Such a picture of a parish-priest is a model-like and it does not mean that every parish-priests fills his assignments in accordance with this paradigm. The problem of actual fulfiled duties of a parish-priest in concrete social and ecclesiastical conditions should to be an object of further investigations. An intriguing question is , for instance a problem of postulated part of a parish-priest, that is assignments, attitudes and demeanour of an administrator of the parish from the point of view of parishioners. This problem stays open onto further sociological investigations.
