Summary/Abstract: The analysis focuses on the phenomenon of the monography of a writer ("life and work"), which is being written from the early twentieth century. This is a very old concept in European culture, but also in the Romanian one, representing both a specific form of literary history, and also a way of canonization, of creating the values of a national heritage. In this context, the approach to the inventory of the corpus of texts reveals a very extensive primary bibliography. By following the policies and models of the new Romanian biographical criticism, we try to identify the manner in which literary criticism fictionalizes and turns into epic the history of literature.
