Summary/Abstract: The quest for the authorship of anonymous works of Czech medieval literature tantalizes (in the best sense of the word) both older and contemporary researchers. This paper comes back to the previously unresolved and evidently unresolvable issue of who the “Dominican” was who translated the Old Czech Passionál, Život Krista Pána (Passional, Life of Christ the Lord) and several books of the first redaction of the Old Czech Bible. In particular it is contextualized by Vladimír Koudelka, Anežka Vidmanová and Markéta Pytlíková’s research, which demonstrates that the possible author cannot be identified with Jan Moravec or Protiva of Dlouhá Ves alone.
