Regional disparities in the development of information society in Poland

Summary/Abstract: ICT innovations have contributed to revolutionary changes in the ways of life and economy, leading to the emerging of a new type of society on the global scale – the information society. In this society, the ability of gaining, storing, using and transferring information, connected with the access to ICT technologies, becomes a key determinant of its development. The paper shows the results of the analysis of the development of information society in Polish regions in 2009, based on the existence and use of ICT technologies in enterprises and households. There was constructed a synthetic measure of development of information society, on the basis of which the evaluation of regional disparities in Poland was conducted.
