Economic theories clarifying the causes of financial crises

Summary/Abstract: The last financial crisis showed the weaknesses of economics as a scientific discipline. The majority of economists not only did not predict the outbreak of the crisis, but, on the contrary, they were surprised at the fact. Amongst the economic theories which in the large degree explained the causes of financial crises were the theory by H. Minski, the theories of the Austrian and the behavioral schools. None these theories however was able to predict the moment of outbreak of the financial crisis, which is a basic weakness of economic theories dealing with the international finances.
