Summary/Abstract: When Andre Gide said “What I am blamed for today is what I will praised for later,” he put in light the need for reflection on homosexuality and more widely on the gender issue. What it is read as a “problem” will, indeed, become a major political and social challenge of the West that wants to offer a social recognition to people whose sexual preferences were previously considered a defect. If we can say that the decriminalization of homosexuality in France has its roots in literature, how did Gide know that he exposed the foundations of gender studies as we know them today?
