“ON THE SOUL OF THE POLISH TEACHERS” – FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF THE TURN OF THE CENTURY

Summary/Abstract: For the last 90 years both Poland and the Polish school experienced two world wars and the threefold transition of the social and political system. Every time new different requirements, that the Polish school had to meet, were formulated. Both, educational objectives and the teacher role in the learning process were defined in different ways. New situations raised new problems for teachers. Nevertheless, the pattern of ideal teachers did not and does not change in the opinions of pupils and their parents. The review of research of ideal pattern, presented in the paper, can be reduced to/is equivalent to the described by J. David in the 19 century “love of human souls”th .
