Summary/Abstract: The article is a chapter from the book written for German readers. Its topic concerns one of the most vital “pedagogic movements” in the interwar Poland: “The movement of the new school”. The article consists of five parts. The first one presents three images of the “old school” fixed in the Polish ‘belles-lettres’: patriotically-martyrologic (Syzyfowe prace by Stefan Żeromski), nostalgically- moralizing (Wspomnienia niebieskiego mundurka by Wiktor Gomulicki) and universally-existential (Ferdydurke by Witold Gombrowicz). The second part is devoted to origins and evolution of the Polish educational system in the II Republic of Poland and specially takes into consideration two most important educational ideologies: “national education” and “State education”. The third part shows three phases of Polish new education (“assimilation” “realization”, “decline”) and its main currents (pedology, progressivism and creative school). The fourth part presents the Polish model “new school” as which the author considers the secondary school in the town named Rydzyna. Finally, the fifth part gives an insight into the postwar period of “the movement of the new school”.
