Summary/Abstract: Since the authors of the most monuments of artistic furniture of the 18th century made in Russia are not known, the ability to attribute such works is especially important. The study of manufacturing techniques and artistic and stylistic features of a number of items from the Hermitage and other collections in order to identify the individual characteristics of professional style of masters allowed to attribute the works of Christian Meier, one of the best furniture makers in Petersburg and at the court of Catherine II. The author examined the furniture decorated with inlay technique, which was one of the most common in the corresponding period. The analysis of the mosaic compositions artistic language helped to find their graphical source, an album of Michelangelo Pergolesi engravings from the private library of the Empress. As a result the author discovered more than a dozen items of the furniture from the residential rooms in the Winter Palace and other imperial palaces.
