Summary/Abstract: The article is devoted to the new attribution of the unknown art collector portrait (1906) by Sergey Egornov from the private collection in St. Petersburg. The author examines the wide range of sources and proves that the portrait depicts a diplomat and an art collector Stepan N. Mitusov (1847-1926) and discusses his image through the prism of the sitter’s biography and in the context of the artist S. Egornov’s creative work.
