Summary/Abstract: The tombplate of Priest Johann Hutter in the ev. Church in Cisnădie (Heltau, Sibiu county) is for the first time published in a complete epigraphical approach, since the inscription on the colonettes, containing the funerary poem, was neglected in the literature. Johannes Hutter (†1638), born in Sibiu (Hermannstadt), chose for his funerary poem a double distich inspired from the tetrastich dedicated to Petrus Martyr Vermilius (Vermigli), whose author seems to have been Rudolf Gwalther. The poem verbally illustrates the portrait, the representation of the deceased with book (Bible) and coat of arms, showing beyond the inspiration source more than a simple paraphrasing of the originary text.
