Summary/Abstract: The role of the Russian Federation in Ukraine crisis has revealed the dimension and significant impact that a comprehensive hybrid threat can encompass when appropriate conventional and nonconventional, military and non-military means are engaged within a dynamic mechanism designed to approach an enemy by targeting its weakness and taking full advantage of your own strengths. Russian General Valery Gerasimov, Chief of the General Staff, pointed out that the role of non-military means in achieving strategic military objectives had significantly increased and in many cases surpassed the strength provided by weapons, while US manual for military operations emphasizes that the operational environment will be increasingly characterized by hybrid threats seen as a combination of regular and irregular elements able to create a competitive security environment.
