Summary/Abstract: The emergence of prospective studies after WW II was received with interest also in Romania. În the 60s ambitious plans were made to create a Romanian prospective school at the initiative of Mircea Malita, scientist and diplomat. Bucharest soon became an important place, by hosting the Third International Conference on Future studies in 1972, bringing together all the elite of researchers worldwide. Further developments would be descending for ideological reasons. After 1989, the interest for prospective studies was re-launched, relatively timid, one first prospective exercise took place. A new generation of researchers began to affirm in the country and abroad.
