Changes on the Polish rapeseed market after the integration with the European Union

Summary/Abstract: This paper presents the changes that have occurred in the domestic market of rapeseed and its derivatives in the first years after the Polish accession to the European Union (2004–2007) and subsequent periods (2008–2011 and 2012–2014), compared with the period prior the accession (2000–2003). The evaluation of those changes was based on average annual data for respective periods. Additionally, domestic market demand for rapeseed was forecast until 2020. Polish integration with the European Union and its inclusion in the single European market with policy regarding biofuels and renewable energy stimulated the development of production, processing and foreign trade in rapeseed and its products. The outlook for oilseed producers and processors by the end of the decade is optimistic.
