POZAROLNICZA DZIAŁALNOŚĆ GOSPODARCZA W GMINIE UNIEJÓW
NON-AGRICULTURAL ACTIVITIES IN UNIEJÓW COMMUNE

Summary/Abstract: The paper presents the structure and potential of non-agricultural activities of Uniejow commune. The economic structure (in spatial dimension) is presented in the following relation: town – rural areas and Uniejow commune – other small towns of the region. The aim of the paper is to partially fill the gap in existing publications dealing with local economic landscape and its specifics. The analysis was based on local economic history, statistical data concerning enterprises operating in 18 economic sectors and taxes paid by them. As a result of the research three main conclusions were drawn. Non-agricultural activities in recent years were mainly concentrated in services (predominantly recreational), which boosted local economic potential. The growth was quicker than in other towns, located – as Uniejow - at the fringe of the regional settlement network. The differences within the commune area regarding the level of development of non-agricultural activities between the town and rural areas are gradually disappearing.
