Summary/Abstract: In the spirit of Socrates’ writing, uninspired and ultimately less attractive compared to other unrevealed texts of the time, Corydon is nevertheless an engaging text that can be situated beyond courage. Gide announced that it is ‘the jacket’, ‘a fag’, ‘a sodomite’, something that has never been known as freely on the media scene before. Corydon remains the first spontaneous coming out of a celebrity. André Gide believed that he had never been more useful to human progress by writing these Socratic dialogues on homosexuality. Somehow with this text, Gide offers to himself a political commitment that his education would not allowed him until his death.
