Summary/Abstract: Lesya Ukrainka (Larysa Kosach, 1871-1913) proclaimed the postulate of tragedy in 1906 in one of her articles Utopia in the fiction and subsequently ingrained it as the dramatist in her creations. Ukrainka endowed her heroes by tragic destiny, her dramas were filled with scenes of battle, revenge, torture, violence and writer presented it directly or via a wide range of symbolic references and allusions. This phenomenon is typical for the era of modernism, which pursued in her creative imagination the author of Orgy (1913). In a similar manner Ukrainian writer has taken the issue of the definition of beauty, which in her works organically intertwined with tragedy. Reflections on the phenomenon of beauty Lesya Ukrainka conducted using also myths and symbols.
