Summary/Abstract: In a patriarchal country like India masculinity traits were rigidly defined and males from their childhood were socialized accordingly but today thanks to globalization the trend is changing and males are allowed to express their emotions and softer traits which till very recently were accepted only in females. This has a direct impact on the nurturing style of the males within the family and this is what the present paper wishes to explore in greater detail. Globalization has exposed the Indian society especially the youth to new avenues in terms of education and employment on account of which a few areas considered to be male bastions are being penetrated by females which has a direct impact on the family life as now women are also going out to work and the home front which was an only female area is shared by males i.e. the husband and father as well. A decade ago males were socialized against doing household work but today as dual career families are on the rise the father and husband take on feminist roles of caring for children, doing household chores, treating their wife on an equal footing in matters like important decisions and finances thus the typical masculine culture within India is becoming mild thanks to globalization. Thus the present paper would like to explore the changing role of the husband and father within the rigid Indian family system on account of globalization.
