Summary/Abstract: Identity is built upon the interdependence between two identitary poles, namely the other and yourself, both of which decisively shaping identitary constructs. The aspects of the relations that the masculine establishes with the feminine concept can be revealed when analyzing the theme of marriage, a symbol of the universe in which the self legitimately connects to the corresponding selfmate as well as the theme of love seen as the self-assertiveness in relation with the other. Identity, however, can undergo no alteration since it delineates itself as opposed to others, to the same extent to which it allows change, a metamorphosis in time, thus assimilating its alterable nature and generating a paradox.
