Summary/Abstract: Janusz Mariański, Polish sociologist of religion, carries out research in relation to Polish religion and Catholicism. Italian sociologist of religion, Roberto Cipriani, does so in relation to religion, formulating the concept of the so-called religione diffusa. Both researchers relate to the alleged (or real) religious crisis. The text presents J. Mariański’s ideas oriented on the topic of the religious crisis and synthesizes R. Cipriani’s concept in relation to this crisis. The researchers mentioned above are significant figures of science – respectively – Polish and Italian. Indicating convergence of research and the differences that exist between these scientists in the sociological research they conduct seems reasonable when attempting a comparative approach.
