Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this article is to identify the main groups of the sources of competitive advantage in the (post-)transitional Slovenian economy and, based thereon, to analyse the influence of these groups of sources on the forms of competitive advantage and a firm’s financial and non-financial performance. After briefly reviewing the relevant theory on the forms and sources of competitive advantage, the article focuses on a presentation of the empirical findings of a study of 225 Slovenian firms. By comparing the empirical evidence with theoretical findings drawn from the literature, we believe some new insights can be offered to scholars and researchers in the area of competitiveness, especially in a (post-)transitional business environment.
