MACIEJ ŻUROWSKI’S VIEWS ON LITERARY CRITICS

Summary/Abstract: Maciej Żurowski’s literary interest was in a way complete, which is why he focused on the theory and history of literary critics. He was especially interested in filiations of critical ideas, continuity and changes in comparative perspective, which explains how he managed to gather all the phenomena contributing to modern methodology of literary research. French “nouvelle critique” and “The Geneva School” come first, however, other formations like: Russian formalism, Polish phenomenology, German philology and American “New Criticism” also need to be mentioned. Yet, the question of literary work concepts and of the limits of its interpretation remains general for all of them.
