Summary/Abstract: The article analyses the experience of the ISO systems’ implementation in small and medium enterprises in the three Baltic countries during the 8-year period. Using the technology of two interviews, the author separately analyses the motivations and benefits of the ISO system’s implementation. Both the motivations and the benefits are compared with quantitative indicators of enterprise development, and show rather significant inconsistency between them and the evaluations of the managers. Simultaneously the paper discusses a very significant difference between the SME managers’ opinions about the motivations and benefits of the ISO system’s implementation.
