Summary/Abstract: Migrations of Serbian immigrants to the United States of America were accompanied by intensive work on creating organised forms of everyday life. Religious needs and organized activities of Serbian clergy, at the beginning under the supervision of Russian orthodox mission in America, initiated the need for establishing autonomous Serbian church that was supposed to be under the jurisdiction of Serbian church in mother country.Work and efforts put into such sort of connection were commenced in late XIX century, but concrete solutions for this issue were found after the end of the First World War. In the atmosphere of coping with financial and personnel problems, as well as with the problem of insufficient informing, new American-Canadian eparchy was finally established in November 1921. Similar problems went along with election process of the first Serbian bishop in America. It happened four years after establishing of eparchy, on December 5, 1925, when archimandrite Mardarije Uskokovic was elected as a bishop of American-Canadian eparchy.
