Summary/Abstract: The purpose of the article is an analysis of methods of mass de-acidification in the Katowice National Archive, which begun on September 1st, 2007. Over half of the archival materials kept in storehouses was created in second part of the 19th century and is endangered by acidic degradation. In 2007, by the decision of the Chief National Archive Director, anindependent 6th Department of Resource Conservation, Protection and Mass Paper De-acidification, headed by Katarzyna Kwaśniewicz. Its tasks, apart from singular and mass conservation, include the digitalization and microfilming of archive resources.
