Summary/Abstract: The article discusses academician Petko Staynov’s concepts about special jurisdictions in the field of administration developed by the author in the 1950s. Despite the time elapsed these ideas are still relevant today and can be employed by Bulgarian scientists and practitioners to make recommendations for improving legislation and its application in practice. However, Bulgarian legislation has witnessed significant changes in the course of time, and therefore we need a new approach in revealing Petko Staynov’s concepts. The new decisions about the jurisdictions in Bulgarian legislation are discussed in the article. Some parallels are made between the administrative procedures in modern law and the proceedings in the court and special jurisdictions. Nevertheless, the role of academician Petko Staynov should be evaluated as the most significant for the development of the concept of jurisdiction implemented by administrative bodies.
