Miroslav Jovanović: to explore, to write and to think over the Balkans

Summary/Abstract: Miroslav Jovanović approached the study and understanding of the history of the Balkans primarily through research and scientific activity, then, through teaching at the Department of History, Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade and institutionally, through the work of the Centre for the history of the Balkans. As part of his work on the topics of «the past reality» of the Balkans he extended the fields of research, opened new questions with new methodological approaches, introduced new concepts and set up a new problematization of the past. A thorough knowledge of the source and history of the Balkans, together with the theoretical foundation of his works, have been seen in all of his scientific work, and also within the teaching activities. In addition to the personal scientific work and the creation of a scientific center Miroslav Jovanovic knowlegde of the Balkans reflected on mentoring undergraduate, master’s and doctoral studies, which had the topics on Balkans.
