Summary/Abstract: The Social-Cultural Center „Saint Paisius” of Neamt Monastery hosted on 14 and 15 November 2015 the monastic Synaxis of monks and nuns from the Archdiocese of Iaşi. This monastic meeting coincided this year with the feast of Saint Paisius Velichykovsky from Neamt and had as main theme „The thought of death”. In this paper, the author shows that the monk begins his spiritual struggle for the mortification of all kinds of appetites and passions when he begins to die for the world, when he decides to abandon his name and the worldly clothes they had until the liturgical ceremony of consecration as monk.
