Summary/Abstract: After many years of negotiation China’s accession to the World Trade Organization in 2001 is one of the most significant events in the contemporary world economy. As a result of this decision Chinese trade policy is now under the global trade rules. This paper examines given aspects of China membership in the WTO. The main assumption of this paper is that China membership in the WTO was, without doubts, profitable for the rest of developing countries and changed the balance of power in the WTO. The role of China is also absolutely vital in the implementation of Doha Round. As a result of changing in the balance of power of the Quad − a leading group in the WTO composed of the US, the EU, Japan and Canada has been replaced by new G5, namely the US, the EU, Brazil, India and China.
