Poland as a location of the R&D activities of Transnational Corporations

Summary/Abstract: The study focuses on the involvement of TNCs in R&D in Poland and on a trial to formulate the prospects of attracting foreign TNCs’ R&D subsidiaries. The size and structure of R&D investments in the Polish economy were analysed on the basis of the available data with respect to the total expenditures, number of TNCs by country of origin and in the industry. It has been shown that Poland is not an important location for TNCs’ R&D yet. However, from the point of view of the Polish economy R&D subsidiaries of Multinationals are a key component of the R&D of the business expenditures. The growth forecast in the R&D perspective of 2020 was also questioned.
