The goal of this paper is to explore the role Friar LovroKaraula had in the struggle for disempowered Catholics and existence of Catholic faith in Bosnia and Herzegovina and to explore his character and work through the folklore. Friar Lovro marked the whole one century. He lived during the Ottoman occupation, the period that was extremely difficult for Church and Catholics. He was the initiator and leader in social, political and Provinces life and till his death he was the fearless fighter for human rights of his multitude he extremely loved. His priestly devotion, work and assiduity for the benefit of the multitude, what endangered his life, in the best way symbolises the life and suffering of Franciscans and Catholics during the period full of troubles and uncertainty. The folk tradition which lives among people in Livno keeps the memory on the character and work of this sometimes unfairly neglected friar, and churches and monasteries he built have a very big role in religious, social and cultural life of Catholics in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
