Summary/Abstract: The subject of research is a rather young for Russia institute - electronic money. The authors of the paper pay quite a lot of attention in the article to the study of the experience of the regulation of electronic money in foreign countries (the USA and the European Union). The authors in detail analyze Russian legislation regulating the national payment system, noting the timeliness and importance of the high level of legal techniques in the regulation of electronic money in Russia as well as the relevance of its reformation under the influence of new economic conditions.Electronic money is a fairly new and young institute of Russian reality that requires a careful study and analysis, especially under the influence of new geopolitical and economic conditions. The article ends with a conclusion about the effectiveness of the use of electronic money in the interests of the state and also states the uniqueness of the Russian experience.
